Position Description:

This is a full-time entry-level position to assist with the underwriting and processing of accounts. The Underwriting Associate will collaborate internally with all operating areas and externally with the brokers. This is a growth opportunity to learn and develop within the underwriting department.

 

To be successful in this role, you are hardworking, diligent, detail-oriented, approachable, and you possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

 

The salary range for this position is $45,000 to $55,000.

 

Reports To:

This position reports to the Director of Underwriting & Operations.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage tasks associated with policy issuance, endorsement underwriting and processing, premium transaction billing, data entry documentation using the MSI Policy Management system

  • Conduct professional and efficient communications with our broker partners along with product information as requested

  • Coordinate data received from account submissions

  • Gather pertinent submission or renewal information for underwriting analysis

  • Follow all workflows, procedures, underwriting guidelines, and service standards

  • Adhere to all company policies and all insurance regulations

  • Understand MSI’s business strategy and product value in order to articulate to distribution partners

  • Order inspections and follow up with brokers on risk-related recommendations

  • Maintain confidentiality of client information

 

Role Requirements:

  • Ability to commute to the office located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada

  • Insurance Program Graduate is preferred

  • CIP or equivalent or willingness to work towards CIP

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High attention to detail

  • Competency using Microsoft Office products

  • High energy, organized, self-starter

  • Strong work ethic, goal oriented

  • Collaborative team player

  • Receptive to and welcomes coaching
