Position Description:

The Claims Advocate Representative is responsible for advocating on behalf of our insurance customers in claims situations where necessary, as well as managing data of our insured clients and setting up new claims within our system. The Claims Advocate Representative is responsible for monitoring the progress of claims, creating claims records/reports, and providing authority for the payment of claims and processing of cheques when applicable.

Reports to Claims Team Lead

 

Primary Responsibilities: (consists of but not limited to)

  • Monitor incoming claims, and verify information in the claims system with policy application and/or wordings.

  • Monitor initial reserve, payouts and status as required.

  • Monitor and update system with required file notes and status update, follow up on and, review cheque status or cancellation and provide updates as required to Claims Advocate and management.

  • Create or save documents in appropriate file (incoming or outgoing communication).

  • Support the assessment of estimates, update and closure request (multiline).

  • Review and complete daily reports if required.

  • Send notification to client and communicate with insurer and adjusters as required.

  • Respond to internal or external inquiries.

  • Assist in communicating trend loss exposure for Underwriting and Business Development teams.

  • Other tasks may be required.

 

 

Key Competencies:

  • Ability to commute to the office located in Burlington, Ontario, Canada (hybrid set-up)

  • 1-2 years of Insurance Claims/Adjusting experience required

  • Understanding and usage of a company operating system or broker management system

  • Bachelor Degree or CIP is preferred

  • Willing to be licensed in multiple jurisdictions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High energy, organized, self-starter

  • Strong work ethic, goal oriented

  • Collaborative team player
